Saxnet is founded on 6 August 2004 by its sole proprietor Steffen Dreise in Plauen, Germany. His aim from the outset is to develop new Wi-Fi technology.

Many innovative ideas gel within the opening year resulting in the first product from the new company: meshnode I. This new modular Wi-Fi access point is launched on 3 February 2005.

A total of €5.8 million is invested in production facilities and state-of-the-art production equipment. On 8 September 2006, the business that started out as a simple sole proprietorship becomes saxnet gmbh, a private limited company. Product development for meshnode III begins.

Saxnet presents its new meshnode III version at the SYSTEMS 2007 trade fair in Munich. Experts are amazed at the product’s efficiency and innovative technical solutions.

Saxnet is awarded the "Initiative Mittelstand Innovationspreis" for meshnode III at the CeBIT trade fair in Hannover. Development of the web interface and the overall system software continues. New features are continually developed and passed on to existing customers. Saxnet develops management software specially made for all saxnet products and designed to configure and manage large networks.

Expansion-oriented development of the product folio with meshnode II is pursued. Other new saxnet products are developed by means of sector-specific expansions.
